Stop Throwing Out Pollutants

By T. E. McMorrow
1 minute 10/15/2019 Share
Head over to the Montauk transfer station Saturday, October 19, to dispose of hazardous household items.

Are you an East Hampton resident with some old toxic chemicals, like paint, and don’t know how to safely dispose of them? Then visit to the Montauk recycling center, also known as the Montauk transfer station, Saturday, October 19, where teams of trained experts will be on hand to happy to take the hazardous household waste off your hands.

All materials will be accepted, though only between the hours of 10 AM and 3 PM.

It is the annual STOP (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) day in Montauk, held every year on the third Saturday in October.

Commercial waste is not accepted. Businesses with hazardous waste are encouraged to contact the regional office of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at 631 444-0375.

The East Hampton Town recycling center on Springs Fireplace Road holds its annual STOP day on the third Saturday each year in May.
