Food Seen: The Clam Bar Chef, East Quogue Dining & More

 

Visiting East Quogue? Check out the New Moon Cafe. The stick-to-your-ribs menu offers typical Tex Mex dishes, such as the pork Mexicana pizza and Mexican street corn nachos. It also offers great specials throughout the week. Start with Meatloaf Monday for $13; $2 tacos and $8 margaritas on Tuesday. Wednesday brings burgers for $6; there’s an open mic and live music on Thursday which is steak night and has steaks starting at $13. Friday means fajitas with half-priced wines and fajitas starting at $15. If you’ve got a whole crew with you, Cucina Family Style Ristorante has family-style dinner portions that serve up to four. Guests can get their Italian cravings satisfied when dining at Cucina. Sakura House is a local favorite that has visitors as far as East Moriches coming in for their sushi. Large rolls and their friendly service is sure to cure your hunger when dining there. Sakura House does not serve alcohol, but they encourage diners to B.Y.O.B. welcometosakurahouse.com

Stone Creek Inn has graced East Quogue since 1996, when celebrated chef Christian Mir, a native of Southwest France, and his wife Elaine DiGiacomo bought and renovated the historic building and created a premier dining destination. Starr Boggs is celebrating its 40th season this summer and it’s no wonder the gastronomic staple operated by chef Starr Boggs has been open for so long. Look for popular dishes such as duck confit with house-made fettuccini; curry-crusted cod and black bottom pecan pie for dessert. starrboggs.com

Union Sushi & Steak is gearing up for the season. Sushi will be front and center courtesy of executive sushi chef Jay Zhang. Look for sushi boats in addition to his already all-encompassing menu. Chef Scott Kampf is also unveiling a few new dishes: A shrimp pappardelle including asparagus slivers, heirloom grape tomatoes in a garlic and shallot broth, and a grilled ahi tuna dish, with oven-toasted wild mushrooms, heirloom tomato broth on a bed of tricolored quinoa. dineatunion.com

Claude’s at the Southampton Inn on Hill Street is now open for breakfast 7–11 a.m. daily and for brunch from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sundays. All-day dining/lunch is now available noon–5 p.m. outside on their lawns, at the pool patio and on the decks (and inside Claude’s if the weather isn’t cooperative). southamptoninn.com/restaurant

Fresno, one of East Hampton’s best-kept secrets, has converted its parking area and patio into an outdoor rosé garden complete with space heaters, sanitized loaner blankets and more. The rosé garden opened for the season this week and reservations are strongly recommended by calling the restaurant directly at 631-324-8700. In addition to the outdoor area, the restaurant has also installed H13 True HEPA air purifiers throughout the restaurant which filter the air in the dining room every 12 minutes. Curbside pickup is also available. The restaurant is currently open Thursday through Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. and is closed on Wednesday.
