Man Charged with Felonies on North Fork After Refusing to Pull Over
Riverhead Town Police Department was conducting a STOP-DWI (Special Traffic Options Program for Driving While Intoxicated) enforcement Saturday night into early Sunday on Main Road when a driver refused to stop.
Police said Jovan Azon Bailey, 27, of Coram, led officers on a pursuit east into Southold Town begining at 3:38 a.m. Sunday. Southold Town police offers used Stop Sticks, a tire deflation device, to disable Bailey’s vehicle.
Bailey was arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, second-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, both felonies, as well as reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations.
