The Forbes 400 Has Many Hamptons Residents

By David Rattiner

You know, it’s kind of surreal for me to think about the fact that many of the richest people in the world, literally, like to hang out on the same beaches that I like to hang out on and like to eat in the same restaurants that I like to eat at.

This year, Forbes has announced its 30th Forbes 400 list, which identifies the top 400 richest Americans in the world, and you guessed it, a lot of people who call the Hamptons home, or at least one of their homes, are on the list.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg came in on the list at number 12. He just bought a new place in Shinnecock Hills in Southampton.

John Paulson, the might hedge fund manager who probably needs to get a massage at Gurney’s Inn to take away the stress of his hedge fund taking a brutal beating this year, came in at number 17.

David Koch came in at number 4. Oh you know he’s gloatin’ at the Tennis club next summer.

Ron Perelman, who is one of my favorite people in the Hamptons in terms of his style, came in at number 26.

Leonard Lauder came in at number 48.

Good old Ralph Lauren enjoyed being number 52 on the list, he was the best dressed out of everybody.

Ira Rennert, who is number one on the list of biggest house in the Hamptons, is number 55.

Richard LeFrak enjoyed number 60.

Barry Diller came in at number 273.

Stephen Spielberg phoned home in East Hampton at number 117.

Congratulations guys! Any chance I could borrow $20 and maybe come over and play some X-Box on your movie screen?
