Help Erica Matloff of Southampton Raise Money for Diabetes at NYC Marathon
My friend Erica Matloff is a Southampton resident who is planning on running the New York City Marathon on November 4th and has been chosen to be one of only 5 individuals to represent the American Diabetes Association New York Chapter.
Erica works at Merrill Lynch in Southampton, her family has been deeply affected by diabetes, and she is a very bright spirit here in the Hamptons. She wrote to me this morning:
As you may know, diabetes runs in my family. Several years ago I lost my aunt to diabetes-related complications and just last year my goddaughter Janess was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I am running in their honor – and the individuals in your life who may be living with the disease.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Nearly 26 million children and adults in the United States are living with diabetes. If current trends continue, one out of three children will face a future with diabetes. This is a startling statistic and your donation will help to change this.
I know my participation in this year’s Team Diabetes can and will make a difference. Please help me reach my goal of $7000 by supporting me with a donation. You can follow the link below to my personal Web page to make a secure, 100% tax deductible donation.
Together we will help stop diabetes.
Yours truly,
Erica Matloff
