On Friday, April 19, 2013, several well-known Hamptons locals will trade in their chalkboards, laptops and smartphones for sequins and fringes. Personalities from the Southampton Rotary, The Corcoran Group, Southampton Town, The Press Group and others have volunteered to participate in Dancing With the East End Stars, a benefit fundraiser for Your Day Away.

The dance event will take place at 230 Elm in Southampton from 7 – 11 p.m., and all funds raised will be used specifically for the benefit of Nassau and Suffolk County residents. If the joy of watching pillars of our community struggle through routines on the dance floor isn’t enough, Dancing With the East End Stars will also include a grand prize raffle drawing for one week’s accommodations in Sedona, Arizona, general dancing and more for all to enjoy. Tickets are $50 per person and are available online and at the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Southampton.

The Arthur Murray Dance Center in Southampton has donated $1,500 in private instruction for each participant to prepare for a showcase performance at the April 19 event. Dancers include Southampton Town Tax Receiver Terri Kiernan; Editor in Chief of The Southampton Press Joe Shaw; Alyssa Giruzzi of The Corcoran Group and Rosanne Cassella-Wilson, a member of Southampton Rotary and owner of Beachfront Property Management.

WPPB (88.3 FM) radio personality Bonnie Grice was initially among the East End stars, but she was unable to participate, so the hunt is on for another notable, and brave, local figure to take her place.

Come out and support you favorite local luminary on April 19!

Your Day Away is a not-for-profit organization that provides respite for the parents or guardians of special needs children.  The organization is national, with international reach, but all funds raised at the Dancing with the East End Stars event will specifically benefit local residents.
