Royal Pains Returns with New Players

Hamptons-based dramedy Royal Pains returns for its fifth season this summer, and HankMed will have some new competition in town. TVGuide.com reports that Go On star Laura Benanti is joining the cast as Shelby Shackelford, the new “Senior VP of Acquisitions at Symphony Health Systems, a health care company trying to buy Hamptons Heritage Hospital.”

Unfortunately for Dr. Hank, Shackelford has a new vision for the hospital, which could create some stiff competition for the Hamptons‘ favorite concierge physician. It sounds like things may also heat up in other ways between the rival health care providers. Will a complicated romance blossom in the midst of this battle over business?

We’ll have to wait and see.

The new season of Royal Pains premieres Wednesday, June 12 at 9 p.m. on USA.
