Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons Garden Fair
Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons (HAH) is holding a free Garden Fair on the grounds of the Bridgehampton Historical Society (across from the Community House) on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. A Preview Party is scheduled for Friday, May 17 from 6–8 p.m. With this celebration of spring, HAH is encouraging all their East End neighbors to purchase beautiful and hearty plants for home and garden.
The Preview Party will honor David Seeler of the Bayberry Nursery, while attendees enjoy wine and finger foods catered by Silver Spoon Specialties, as well as the first choice of plants at the sale. New at this year’s Preview Party is a silent auction of containers designed by HAH board members—the sale of which will contribute to the organization’s mission to foster the art and science of horticulture and the proliferation of gardening on the East End.
On Saturday, the Garden Fair will offer a wide array of items for sale. As stated on the HAH website, “The Garden Fair offers you access to reliable plants from the best wholesale growers on Long Island.” Included will be annuals, perennials, roses, trees, shrubs and some unusual extras. And, as in the past, prestigious Long Island growers Landcraft Environments, Ltd. and Beds & Borders will make their best annuals available for purchase. Heirloom tomatoes from Silver Heights Farm, selections from Glover Perennials and a variety of the best rose plants, hand-picked by HAH expert Rosarian Brad Bender, will also be sold.
Other HAH board members will select the best available spring flowering specimens from Environmentals, as well as other rare and unusual plants and flowers.
Not sure what to buy? Need help with your purchase? Have specific questions about certain specimens? Wondering how to create a garden in the East End that will actually grow? Don’t fret, the HAH Library Committee will be on hand to answer questions, and they will be selling gently used books to educate budding gardeners.
The HAH Garden Fair is a must for South Fork green thumbs, who will cherish their favorite finds for months as they grow and flourish.
