A photograph by Water Mill artist and Dan’s Papers web editor Oliver Peterson has been selected as the Fighting 1:18th Photo of the Month for August 2014.

Fighting 1:18th is a website dedicated to the photography of 1:18 scale figures. Peterson’s photo of a Panzer Tiger tank and German regulars, shot outside in Water Mill using perspective, won out over scores of photos submitted last month.

“We do love our modern military and our Acid Rain World toys, our sci-fi and superhero figures, but it’s the historically themed ones that strike a chord with many of our members,”  Fighting 1:18th’s Chris Navarro wrote. “What tipped the scales though was the fact that he took his toys outside and played with them in the dirt—just like we used to do when we were kids.”
