It’s no surprise that one of the best shows to ever hit the Suffolk Theater stage came on the night of the 2014 Dan’s Best of Best Celebration on Friday, November 14. As a gathering of the great businesses, personalities and entertainers on the East End enjoyed the fabulous food and drink and camaraderie that flowed throughout the historic Riverhead venue, the anticipation was palpable for the concert by Joe Delia & Thieves (along with some surprise sit-in guests) that would kick the evening into high gear.

Reporters covering the Oscars, Emmys and such are always obsessed with what the guests are wearing, and it was easy to see that the hottest accessory of this awards night was unquestionably the famous Best of the Best certificate handed out to all the winners, which you’ll see proudly displayed in across the Hamptons and the North Fork. Looking out on the crowd of people proudly holding their awards, Dan’s Papers CEO Bob Edelman’s gave a warm welcome, and Claudia Pilato, Vice President, Director of Marketing, at Best of the Best presenting sponsor Bridgehampton National Bank (BNB), drew cheers with a shout-out to all the successful businesses who have elevated themselves to the upper echelon on the East End.

Following the applause, WPPB’s Bonnie Grice—a multiple-time Best of the Best winner herself—welcomed the inaugural class of the Dan’s Best of the Best Hall of Fame. To qualify for Hall of Fame consideration, an individual or business must have won Best of the Best at least 10 times and be willing to never be eligible to run in that category again, and the eight honorees making up this best of the Best of the Best, if you will, were: Bruce Nagel, Nancy Atlas, Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks, Flanders, Dr. Kenneth Mark, English Country Antiques, SP&C Home Improvement and Unlimited Earth Care.

After a few hours or congratulations, Joe Delia & Thieves took the stage, and the concept of “party” went to a whole new level! The energy and eclectic mix of talent, the love of the local scene and the nonstop fun had by all, was truly worthy of the title Best of the Best.
