Amy Zerner's Fashion Sense: Pyramid Scheme
The pyramid shape in design is timeless as well as trendy. Some new jewelry pieces really do have a point!
The tapered geometry of the pyramid is inspiring many new styles and many designers (including moi!) are using the pyramid as a signature motif, while other angular shapes—relatable to the pyramid with its triangular point—are appearing in upscale fashion jewelry collections.
The pyramid shape is symbolic of a mountain. A square base represents the four corners of the world and the four directions. Its peak rises to the sky, where it connects Heaven and Earth. It symbolizes a path between the worldly and the heavenly, and the chains reinforce this meaning of being linked and connected: ancient/future, new/old, heaven/earth, as above/so below.
If you are a fashionista who wants a little bit of fierce edge, and who doesn’t, while remaining chic enough to go anywhere, from a Hamptons charity event, to a business meeting, to lunch with the girls, your choices range from high end to low.
The pyramid shapes are versatile enough to work well small or large, in rows, with chains or crystals, or alone. Edgy, alluring and simply chic, the combinations are creative, very fun looks with a nod to the rocker aesthetics and biker leather studs, celebrated in punk rock fashions.
