Beat the Heat at the Dan's Best of the Best Ice Cream Shops

When the heat finally catches up to you, perhaps you can feel your mouth watering for a cool summer snack. Ice cream shops can help you enjoy the season that much more by offering you a multitude of unique flavors. Dan’s Papers readers voted for these Best of the Best ice cream on the East End.

The platinum winner for the Best of the Best Ice Cream on both the North and South forks is Snowflake (1148 West Main Street, Riverhead; snowflakeicecream.com). Snowflake has flavors that range from Cannoli to Maple Walnut and a plethora of toppings. Customers can treat themselves to either a small or large snow flurry.

Magic Fountain (9825 Main Rd, Mattituck; 631-298-4908, magicfountainicecream.net is the gold Best of the Best Ice Cream recipient for the North Fork. With exotic options, this family-owned and -operated business offers selections of ice cream, shakes, sorbets, yogurts and cakes.

The South Fork gold, Shock Ice Cream & Teddy Bear Café (99A Main St, Westhampton; 631-288-2522, facebook.com/shockicecream), is located in Westhampton Beach. They offer unique flavors with an assortment of toppings to meet your ice cream needs.

Dari-Land (Route 25, Riverhead; 631-727-0220) won the silver award for the North Fork. This ice cream shop located in Riverhead doesn’t just serve ice-cream but yogurts and tailored cakes as well.

Joe & Liza’s (1668 Sag Harbor Turnpike, Sag Harbor; 631-808-3111, joeandlizas.com), the South Fork recipient of the bronze, is located in Sag Harbor. Customers can enjoy tubs of their all-natural ice cream.
