Shop 'til You Drop: Bring on the Sunshine for the Fourth of July!
The hamlets are already buzzing with Fourth of July prep, meaning we’re all spending more time out and about in the sun.
Stay protected with Mission Athletecare EnduraCool Instant Cooling Hats (missionathletecare.com; $22.99). The limited-edition head toppers not only keep you cool while you’re working out and spending time outdoors, but they feature different sayings so you can show off your personality. Made from performance fabric that cools to approximately 30 degrees below the average body temperature in under a minute when soaked with water or sweat, wrung out and then snapped in the air to activate the cooling properties, the hats are basically as close as you’ll ever get to having a portable air conditioner when you’re walking down Main Street.
Speaking of being on the go, New Balance recently unveiled the third update to their popular 1400 shoe, the New Balance 1400v3 (Gubbins Running Ahead, 86 Park Place, East Hampton; $99.95). Just like the aforementioned hat, the shoe is made with innovative materials to keep your feet cool no matter what the air temperature is around you. They also wash well, so feel free to take them on your long runs and then toss them in the washer—just make sure to remove the insole.
And, speaking of workout wear, checkout GAP’s uber stylish GapFit line (Bridgehampton Commons, Montauk Highway and Snake Hollow Road, Bridgehampton). The line is affordable, and all the items in the collection I’ve tried wash well, so they won’t develop an odor, even when you drench them.
Beauty-wise, you can rest easy knowing that you won’t cost you an arm and a leg next time you’re in need of a blowout (which given the frizz-inducing weather, we’d venture to guess is pretty soon…). BeautyPass, a $99 monthly subscription service that offers unlimited beauty services in Manhattan, is now available in the Hamptons for $49 additional per month.
Those looking for some at-home pampering—or a hostess gift—may want to check out L’Occitane’s new Body Soap Trio (Second Nature Markets, 70 Main Street, Southampton, $21). The three soaps will delight men’s as well as women’s olfactory senses. And they don’t melt in your hand after two or three uses like most competitors. The brand has also released a slew of new products and gift sets, including a number for men like their Cedrat Skincare Collection ($60). Cedrat Face Gel, Shaving Gel, and After Shave Balm will be just what Dad or your significant other needs to feel 100% when he’s manning the barbecue.
If all the aforementioned sun time is clogging your pores and causing breakouts come July you can snap up two acne-busting products from Murad, both of which will simultaneously work to treat wrinkles so you won’t have to weigh your skin down with multiple products. Get the one-two punch with Advanced Acne & Wrinkle Reducer (sephora.com; $44), for night and Anti-Aging Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA++ ($48) by day.

Montauk’s Navy Beach will host a pop-up shop by New York-based designer Ramy Brook on Sunday, July 19 from 1 to 9 p.m. Beach-to-dinner apparel and accessories, including jumpers, dresses, sweaters and handbags will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will support the Navy SEAL Foundation.
My new black sequin flip flops and my new black sneakers are from Vionic with Orthaheel Technology. I LOVE the natural realignment that the shape of the soles provide! They must work because they’re endorsed by Dr. Andrew Weil’s Weil Foundation. So comfy on the inside, so cute on the outside! Vionicshoes.com.
