Paddlers for Humanity 10th Annual Block Island Challenge
SATURDAY, AUGUST 29: On Saturday, August 29, Paddlers for Humanity will host an 18-mile open ocean paddle from Montauk to Block Island. Starting at 6:30 a.m., the six hour-long paddle will begin on the north side of the Montauk Lighthouse and end at Champlin’s Marina. Once on Block Island, paddlers will celebrate their accomplishment with a catered meal and a ceremony thanking paddlers, support boat volunteers, friends and donors. A return ferry ride to Montauk courtesy of the Montauk-Block Island Ferry from Viking Fleet departs Block Island at 5 p.m. The event supports Paddlers for Humanity, a non-profit organization based in East Hampton dedicated to bettering children’s lives. Saturday BBQ at Gurney’s
SATURDAY, AUGUST 29: The Beach Club at Gurney’s hosts a ticketed BBQ every Saturday throughout the summer for the resort’s guests, as well as locals. From 11 a.m.–6 p.m., patrons can enjoy grilled seafood favorites and barbecue classics. Relax on the resort’s expansive 1,000 ft. private beach that captures the nostalgic charm of the “endless American summer.” DJ entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. and those looking for top-level comfort can opt to rent one of the 12 double king-sized daybeds. The Montauk Farmers Market
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3: The Montauk Farmers Market is held weekly on Thursdays from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. on the village green. Over 30 vendors participate in the market, offering locally sourced fresh produce, baked goods, gourmet specialties, cut flowers, wines and more. Proceeds benefit the Montauk Food Pantry. SUNDAY, AUGUST 30: Gosman’s 2015 Summer Concert Series ends this Sunday with a performance by the HooDoo Loungers, who will bring the sounds of New Orleans with funk, R&B and zydeco. MONDAY, AUGUST 31: The Montauk Chamber of Commerce holds concerts on the village green on Monday nights from 6–8 p.m. throughout the summer. This week’s concert is the series finale, featuring Hopefully Forgiven. The concert is free and open to the public. Bring chairs and a picnic!
