Ed Reale Returns to Sotheby's, Leaves Compass
East End real estate veteran Ed Reale is returning to Sotheby’s International Realty, where he will lead the company’s Southampton and Bridgehampton Brokerages.
To accept the position at Sotheby’s, Reale leaves new Hamptons firm Compass, which he joined last fall as senior managing director of the region. Before Compass, Reale was senior managing director at Brown Harris Stevens, where he oversaw the company’s Southampton, Sag Harbor and Westhampton offices. Reale had served as brokerage manager for Sotheby’s International Realty in Southampton prior to his move to Brown Harris Stevens in April of 2010.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ed Reale home to Sotheby’s International Realty,” Sotheby’s President and CEO, Kathryn A. Korte, said, announcing the news. “Ed is an institution in Hamptons real estate and his knowledge of the local luxury market, respect throughout industry, and legal acumen make him one of the best in the region.”
As an industry veteran with 25 years experience as a real estate attorney, Reale is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations and holds a juris doctor degree from NY Law School. He succeeds the late Alice Bell in his new role at Sotheby’s. Bell, who joined Sotheby’s as a sales associate in 1994, was senior vice president of the eastern region from 2010 until shortly before her death at 72 years old in December, 2015.
“Sotheby’s International Realty has the highest caliber of brokers and I am thrilled to be returning to the premier luxury real estate firm in The Hamptons,” Reale said of his move.
