The South Fork real estate market is bearing some fine architectural fruit this week—as one Bates Masi home falls from the tree in Amagansett, another sprouts up in the very same hamlet.

The Hamptons’ coolest little house is finally in contract after sitting on the market for more than two years. With just 600 square feet of living space on an incredible .28 acres, this Bates Masi + Architects-designed gem in Amagansett’s Dune Hampton was always going to need a special buyer, and Sotheby’s International Realty Associate Broker Rylan Jacka appears to have found one. Originally listed by Corcoran Group for $1,795,000 in March of 2014, the home’s most recent price was down to $1,475,000.

The house has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and is located just 200 feet from the beach at 9 Ocean Lane. Its unique, two-story design features floor-to-ceiling walls of glass and a skylight—inviting sunlight to stream in throughout the summer days. The cozy space also offers high-end appliances, Corian cabinets and countertops, a Sonos sound system and a built-in articulating flat-panel TV.

This is truly one of the Hamptons most interesting homes, and it’s proof that buyers paying over $1 million don’t always need a McMansion to satisfy their seaside desires!

New Bates Masi Modern Hits the Market

In related news, Sotheby’s has also just put another, significantly larger, Bates Masi home on the market at 76 Oak Lane in Amagansett Village. Listed by Eve Combemale and Marilyn Clark for $3,695,000, the 4,200-square-foot Modern has 5 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, and a living room lined with walls of glass. The home also features a gourmet kitchen, 2 separate offices, a cozy den and a second-floor master suite with floor-to-ceiling windows and doors, a spacious bath with Waterworks soaking tub and Dornbracht fixtures. A media room and playroom add some fun on the finished lower level, while outside is highlighted by a patio, covered dining area, outdoor fireplace and heated pool surrounded by mature hedges and lush landscaping.

The property also includes a light-filled, 600-square-foot studio and attached garage, which we’ve seen is quite large enough to be a home all on its own.
