Celebrate National Chocolate Day and Halloween with the Hamptons Best Candy Stores
Today, October 28, is National Chocolate Day, and to celebrate, we’re looking at our brand new 2016 Dan’s Best of the Best winners in the South Fork Candy Store category. And what could be a better time to talk about chocolate and candy than Halloween! Our savvy Dan’s Papers readers always do an excellent job choosing the best businesses and personalities in the Hamptons and North Fork, so it should be no surprise that they made some excellent choices for this very important, and very sweet, category.

The 2015 Silver award winner, Fudge N’ Stuff (41 The Plaza, Montauk; 631-668-4724), moved up to the top of the heap and took home the Platinum award for 2016! This Montauk institution has offered fresh, handmade fudge and chocolates made daily on the premises for more than 30 years. They make delicious fudge and chocolate, old fashioned milkshakes, fresh-spun cotton candy, ice cream and a range of gorgeous gummies. Fudge N’ Stuff even has piñatas and gift baskets for parties and special occasions! The shop is closing for the season on the Sunday before Halloween, so all fudge, chocolates and unwrapped candy is 50% off this weekend. Stock up for Halloween and the coming winter!
Cult classic, Dylan’s Candy Bar (52 Main Street East Hampton; 631-324-6181, dylanscandybar.com) earned the 2016 Gold award, moving up two slots from winning Bronze in 2015. This sweet lover’s paradise sells some of the most creative candies around, as well as an entire line of their own chocolates. Try the Maple Waffle Crisp, Cookies and Cream or S’Mores chocolate bars, Dylan’s signature Chocolate Tackle Box or the giant cupcake filled with chocolate bakery mix! They also take custom orders, which are great for parties and catered events, on the Dylan’s website.
The Candied Anchor (721 Main Street, Montauk; 631-668-8038, candiedanchor.com) received the Silver award. Located in the heart of Montauk, this is a 1950s style sweet shop with a modern twist. The selection is sure to delight even the most stubborn sweet tooth. Stop by and you will find party supplies, baked confections, ice cream, retro gifts, and all of the candy a person could want. Try chocolately goodies baked by Dawn Rennar—owner of Dawn’s Delicious Delights—including her famous brownies, homemade marshmallows, pies in a jar and adorable decorated sugar cookies. The Candied Anchor also makes custom cookies or treats for any event, including Halloween.
Established in 1973, The Fudge Company (67 Main Street, Southampton, 631-283-8108, southamptonfudgecompany.com) is a family owned business right in Southampton Village. They have an awesome selection of ice cream with soft serve and toppings, rich chocolates, exotic fudge, salt water taffy, rare classic and new penny candies, sour and sweet yummy gummies, including Kookaburra licorice, and more. Try pumpkin fudge for the Halloween season, chocolate covered caramels, chocolate truffles, chocolate covered s’mores and a variety of chocolate covered pretzels.
