Mattituck-Laurel Library

The Mattituck-Laurel Library will hold a Lego program for students in grades four through six on Thursday, November 14, at 4 PM.

“Minute to Win It” will be offered for those in grades seven through 12 on Thursday, November 14, at 6 PM. Teens will compete with their peers to complete several challenges.

The library will screen “Brian Banks,” on Friday, November 15, at 1:30 PM. A football player’s dreams to play in the NFL are halted when he is wrongly convicted and sent to prison. Years later, he fights to clear his name.

Virtual Reality with HTC VIVE will be held on Friday, November 15, from 2 to 5 PM. Each participant will be given the opportunity to use the VIVE for 30 minutes.

Toby Tobias will share his “Journey from Johannesburg” on Sunday, November 17, at 2 PM. He has lived in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Jerusalem, Israel, and finally, New York. Tobias’s message is one of racial equality and of understanding each other’s culture and religion, and of finding unity in a world which seeks to divide.

“Campfire S’mores” will be held on Monday, November 18, at 4 PM, for kindergartners and first graders. Have “S’more” fun while telling stories and playing games.

The library will hold Health Insurance Counseling on Tuesday, November 19, from 1:30 to 3 PM. Individual, confidential, accurate information and guidance for seniors, and other Medicare eligible persons, sponsored by the Suffolk County Office for the Aging. Kindness Counts Tuesdays continues on Tuesday, November 19, at 3 PM for grades seven through 12. Teens can earn community service hours through making Thanksgiving cards for seniors at the local senior center.

Holiday Grief Program

The Peconic Bay Medical Center will present “Hope for the Holidays” on Wednesday, November 20, from 5:30 to 7 PM, at the Riverhead Free Library. The holiday season is a special time of year to spend with the people you love, and can be especially painful if you have recently lost a loved one. While it may be difficult, it’s important to remember that the holidays can still be a time of celebration, even through grief. This program will explore meaningful ways to ease your anticipated grief and heartache during the holidays.

Behavioral Health Facility Ribbon-Cutting

A ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of Quannacut Outpatient Services’ new behavioral health facility in Riverhead on Wednesday, November 20, starting at 2 PM. The 14,000-square-foot facility provides highly individualized programs for patients 18 years of age and above with diverse needs across a wide variety of treatment disciplines so that patients can receive all outpatient care in one location. Programs and services include psychiatry, medication management, primary care medicine, walk-in evaluations and more.
