East Hampton Mixer

The 1770 House and the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce will co-host an after-business-hours mixer on Wednesday, February 19, from 5 to 7 PM at the restaurant. Complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres and happy hour pricing will be available. Admission is free for members or future members and $15 for non-members. The Ross School is holding a cheer clinic on Saturday, February 22, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Children ages 5 to 10 are invited to learn basic cheer moves and a Ross cheer/dance with the current cheerleaders. The clinic is open to the public. A voluntary donation of $10 will benefit Hoops 4 Hope and a non-profit in Zimbabwe, where the Ross students will be volunteering. For more information visit www.ross.org/cheerclinic.

East End Food

The South Fork Natural History Museum is collaborating with the East End Food Institute on Saturday, February 22, at 10:30 AM for a Kitchen Table Conversations workshop. It will include an introduction to the institute, and a discussion about the local farm-to-table food system and its challenges. The workshop will be held at the East End Food Institute in Southampton and will conclude with a food tasting. For adults and children ages 6 and up, registration is $5, and required in advance.

Tap Dancing

Hayground School and the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center will present “Tap Dancin’ Is Music,” a 45-minute demonstration/performance by renowned tap artist Omar Edwards at 4 PM on Monday, February 24, at the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center located at 551 Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton. The event is free to children of all ages and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their tap shoes, as this interactive experience will include participatory elements. Mardi Gras

The Southampton Democrats, on Tuesday, February 25, will host a Mardi Gras party at Salvatore’s in Hampton Bays from 6 to 9 PM. The restaurant will be offering a special three-course dinner for $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Prizes for the best costumes will be given out, but no costume is required. Rogers Memorial Library

Southampton History Museum’s Director of Education, Connor Flanagan, will lead a discussion on Pyrrhus Concer at the Rogers Memorial Library on Thursday, February 20, at 1 PM. Concer, born the son of one of Nathaniel Cooper’s slaves, spent the first few years of his life living on the grounds of what is now the Rogers Memorial Library. He eventually gained his freedom, became a successful whaler, and saw more of the world than many ever would.

A screening of “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am” will be on Monday, February 24, at 3 PM at the library. The documentary is an intimate look at the life and works of the legendary storyteller and Nobel prize-winner.

Sybille van Kemper, owner of Loaves & Fishes and co-author of “The Bridgehampton Look + Cook Book,” will be at the library on Wednesday, February 26, at noon. The book will be available for purchase as well as some samples from her cookbook.

Westhampton Free Library

The Westhampton Free Library invites children in kindergarten through third grade to learn how to make sweet candy hearts disappear on Monday, February 24, at 2 PM.

The library invites children ages 3 to 5 to bring their favorite American Girl doll to the library and play with the library’s doll supplies on Thursday, February 27, at 2 PM.

Tai Chi For Arthritis

East Hampton Library will be offering Tai Chi for those with arthritis on Wednesdays and Fridays, February through May. Session I is from 10 to 10:45 AM and Session II from 11 to 11:45 AM.
