Woman Running Montauk Supermarathon for Charity
A woman is running an 85-mile supermarathon from Montauk to Islandia next month to raise money for a nonprofit organization that assists families caring for children with special healthcare needs.
Christine Astarita, the founder of Breakthrough Intensive Physical Therapy and creator of the event, is asking for donations ahead of her September 4 “Run to Break Through” benefitting Angela’s House.
“I’m super pumped to get this out there and raise funds for such an amazing organization,” she said in a message inviting people to donate, join her, or cheer her on. She is also planning to push a group of clients in an adaptive stroller for certain legs of the run.
Breakthough Intensive Physical Therapy helps children and young adults with neurological diagnoses reach their maximum function, independence, and confidence for a better quality of life. Both it and Angela’s House are based in Islandia.
