$4 Twilight Fee For Beaches Is Repealed

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has repealed the “twilight” fees at Smith Point in Shirley and Cupsogue Beach in Westhampton. The $4 fee at the county beaches, charged for visitors between 5 and 8 p.m.—previously a free time to enjoy the beaches—had been in effect since June 23 and had angered a number of politicians as well as residents. Last week, legislation was introduced by Suffolk County Legislators Kate Browning and Jay Schneiderman to have the fees repealed.
