Flanders Farm Fresh Food Market Opening for Third Season
Join the Town of Southampton for the opening of the third season of the Farm Fresh Food Market, which provides access to fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables to residents of Flanders, Riverside and Northampton. The market opens at Flanders Crohan Community Center on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be open each Saturday during these hours through October 12.
Singer-songwriter Caroline Doctorow will be on hand to sing the “Big Duck Ramble” and songs from her new album, Little Lovin’ Darling, which will be released June 29. The market is also partnering for the first time with Blue Duck Bakery to provide fresh bread and baked goods. The market will again be run by youth, who will receive training in local agriculture, food handling, business management, customer service and other viable job-related skills.
Seven participating farms in the Town of Southampton will be providing the produce—Country Garden, Halsey Farm & Nursery, Halsey’s Green Thumb of Water Mill, Lisa & Bill’s Fresh Vegetables, Milk Pail, Pike Farms and Sagaponack Potato Co. The market will accept cash, credit cards, EBT, WIC and Senior FMNP checks.
The opening ceremony festivities begin with a speech from Southampton Town Councilwoman Bridget Fleming at 10:45 a.m., followed by music from Doctorow at 11 a.m.
Flanders Crohan Community Center is located at 655 Flanders Road (Route 24) in Flanders.
