Laura Bush, the former First Lady, was spotted shopping in Southampton Village on Thursday afternoon, as she and husband President George W. Bush are in town for the Walker Cup at National Golf Links of America, which officially begins Saturday.
During Thursday’s practice round, President Bush played four holes with the USA Team, according to the USGA. The Walker Cup is named for Bush’s great-grandfather George Herbert Walker.
Laura Bush turned heads on Main Street and Jobs Lane in the village, according to shopkeepers and residents who saw with her, and some who spoke with her. Her husband skipped the shopping excursion, but keep an eye out for him around Southampton. The Walker Cup runs through Sunday.
Laura Bush is not the only first lady to visit the Hamptons this summer. Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton reportedly rented in Sagaponack, and Bill showed up again at the Artists & Writers Softball Game. Earlier this summer, Vice President Joe Biden vacationed in Southampton.
