Following an early morning fire in Bridgehampton Saturday that damaged an oceanfront residence, Southampton Town police have arrested a Sagaponack man they say started the blaze plus a brush fire in the Hayground area on an earlier date.

David Osiecki, 54, was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with third-degree arson, a felony, and fifth-degree arson, a misdemeanor. Osiecki is to be arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court in Hamptons Bays at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Bridgehampton Fire Department was first to respond to the house fire Saturday, at 5:53 a.m.  The Amagansett, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, North Sea, Southampton and Hampton Bays fire departments were subsequently brought in. Southampton Town and Suffolk County fire marshals investigated the cause of the fire, and the Suffolk County Arson Squad and Southampton Town Police Department detectives also responded.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding these incidents to call 631-702-2230.
