Chris Cuomo to Speak at Southampton Village Memorial Day Service
The Commission on Veterans Patriotic Events has invited CNN journalist Chris Cuomo to be the 2014 guest speaker at Southampton Village’s annual Memorial Day service.
Between 2006 and 2009, when he was news anchor for Good Morning America, Cuomo was embedded with troops in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq on multiple occasions. In Iraq in 2007, the convey he was traveling with was struck by an IED attack.
Cuomo is no stranger to Southampton. He was married in the village in 2001 to Cristina Greeven. Cuomo is the son of one New York governor, Mario, and the brother of another, Andrew.
The Memorial Day service begins at 11 a.m. in Agawam Park on May 26. Beforehand, there will be a short parade from the First Presbyterian Church. All veterans are invited to join the parade; cars will be provided for those who cannot march.
The public is invited to attend both the parade and ceremony.
