Steven Spielberg Selling East Hampton Property

Have $25 million lying around? Then congratulations, you can now buy Steven Spielberg’s waterfront estate in East Hampton!
According to The Real Deal, Spielberg is selling his land in East Hampton for a cool $24.5 million. Not too shabby, right? Especially if you consider the fact that there’s no actual house on the property—Speilberg tore down the original home, which was built in 1900, after he purchased the 3.2-acre property back in 2008.
Why didn’t Spielberg ever rebuild a house on the Apaquogue Road lot? Who knows? Before he demolished the home, there was a comfy 6-bedroom, 5-bathroom house on the property. On the plus side, whoever buys the land can build their own dream house there.
Speilberg owns two other properties in the neighborhood, including his manse near Georgica Beach, so there’s still a good chance we’ll see him wandering through the East End, eating ice cream or strolling with his family this summer.
In other Steven Spielberg news, it was recently announced that Joel and Ethan Coen are writing the script for the director’s upcoming Cold War movie. The as-of-yet unnamed film, a DreamWorks production, will star his pal Tom Hanks. The Academy Award-winning actor signed on in April to play James Donovan, a real-life American attorney hired by the CIA in the Cold War to negotiate a prisoner of war release.
The Coen brothers have previously won Oscars for their scripts for Fargo and No Country for Old Men.
