Alec Baldwin Honored for Saving Library in Rhode Island

After reading about the plight of a small town library in Rhode Island, Amagansett’s Alec Baldwin stepped up to the plate.
Baldwin has donated since 2011 a total of $15,000 to keep the Adams Memorial Library in Central Falls operating when financial stress risked the library having to close.
He was presented with the key to the city on Saturday and Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee attended the presentation to thank Baldwin. The 30 Rock star also hosted the Baldwin for Books fundraiser Saturday to further support “The Little Library That Could.”
Baldwin spoke of the importance of the libraries on the East End in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, when residents without power headed to them for power and internet.
Baldwin is known in the Hamptons for his genorosity toward libraries. Baldwin donated $1 million to the East Hampton Library in November, following previous $25,000 and $250,000 gifts.
