The Montauk Chamber of Commerce has a new program for children interested in learning about sailing.

The captains of Montauk’s charter boats The Mon Tiki and Sail Montauk say they’re eager to teach kids the fundamentals of sailings and generate their interest in boats. Learning expeditions will take place on various dates throughout the summer, including July 15, 16, and 17. Each trip will last two hours.

Kids ages 6-16 can sign up for free, but there is a $10 fee for each adult accompanying a child onto the water.

Personal flotation devices will be provided to each child before the session begins.

Interested residents can sign up for the program Monday-Wednesday at the Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street in Montauk. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce and ask to speak to Sharon at 631-668-2428 or go to
