Worry is the result of feeling that things are not as they should be. Our attachment to expectations causes us to hold ourselves and others up to what we expect, and to be critical and full of doubt.
This anxiety scares us and holds us rigidly in place, preventing relationships from growing, and stopping us from taking steps to make our lives better and more fulfilling. We cannot always know the perfect plan or outcome of plans and actions before they have reached fruition. Practicing mindfulness teaches that the unknown is always with us and must be embraced if we want to live a full life.
How can we embrace the unknown?
By looking back on what we used to fear, it is easy to feel that most of our past anxiety was a waste of time. We usually deal more or less successfully with whatever circumstances arise. We naturally desire to protect ourselves from pain by anticipating problems. But remember, you are also being practical and logical when you let your successes transform your life—and not your failures, real or imagined. Sometimes we need a little more courage…
Enchantment for Courage
This ritual will help recharge, purify, protect and strengthen your courage to overcome anxiety and move forward.
Over a cup of your favorite tea, move the flat of your palm in a clockwise direction three times while saying,
I’ll get my way.
I know what’s right.
Please fill this tea.
With strength and might.
Swirl the tea and drink it. As you sit and sip your tea, think of how much better you feel when you focus on your strengths and not on your weaknesses.
