Child Actors Sought for 'To Kill a Mockingbird' at Bay Street
Bay Street Theater’s Literature Live! series will be staging To Kill a Mockingbird this November, and the theater is holding auditions this Monday, October 6, to find child actors to fill key roles.
The biggest child role is Scout, a tomboy between 9 and 12 years old who is the daughter of Atticus Finch. She is the youngest character on stage.
For boys, there are two roles: Jem, who is Scout’s 12-year-old brother, and Dill, a playmate to Scout and Jem, between 8 and 12 years old, who is “wise beyond his years.”
Children between 8 and 12 years old are sought for these roles.
Bay Street encourages actors who live within a 50-mile radius of Sag Harbor to attend as well as performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds.
Auditions will be held Monday, October 6, between 4:30 and 6 p.m. at Bay Street Theater, at the corner of Bay Street and Main Street, Sag Harbor.
Contract dates are October 13 through November 29. Performances will be November 5 to 29. Joe Minutillo directs.
