Michael Kors and Hubby to Purchase Swanky NYC Digs
Fashion designer, Hamptonite and Project Runway judge Michael Kors, whose Main Street Southampton shop has been the go-to place for the hottest looks, and husband Lance LaPere are reportedly ready to buy an ultra-pricey penthouse in the brand new Greenwich Lane complex (145 West 11th Street West) in NYC, according to the New York Post.
East Enders will remember that Kors and LaPere were married in a barefoot ceremony on Dune Beach in Southampton by Village Mayor Mark Epley in 2011. LaPere, who creative director of Michael Kors’ women’s collection, and the designer wed after New York passed the right for same-sex marriage. The couple was together for 21 years before their nuptials.
The duo are fixed on an elegant, three-bedroom, three-bath apartment with a private roof deck featuring sweeping views of the city, including the Empire State Building, for a price in the realm of $17-$21 million, a Post source reports. The LEED-certified development won’t be completed until 2016. But that should be no problem for for the Long Island-born and Hamptons regular Kors, whose net worth is in excess of $1 billion, thanks to his incredible eye for design.
Kors is a longtime favorite of Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Catherine Zeta-Jones and First Lady Michelle Obama.
