The Medical Advisory Panel of Southampton Hospital’s Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center sponsored a forum on February 13, bringing together elected officials, representatives of the Suffolk County Health Services Department, and physician-experts to begin discussions on a coordinated approach to addressing Lyme and tick-borne disease on Eastern Long Island.
In addition to Lyme disease, tick-born diseases include anaplasmosis, babesiosis, ehrilchiosis, spotted fever and tularemia.
The center includes an advisory panel of doctors and professionals spanning nine different specialties: family practice, internal medicine, infectious disease, allergy, pediatrics, emergency medicine, neurology, psychology and rheumatology.
