Paul Simon Appears on IFC's Portlandia

Montauk resident and music legend Paul Simon had his worst Q&A ever, thanks to Fred Armisen on IFC’s Portlandia.

In a special cameo appearance on the Friday, March 6 episode of Portlandia, Simon played himself onstage as part of a Q&A session to promote his memoir Just Call Me Paul. As his ultra-annoying character Dave—played alongside Carrie Brownstein‘s Kath, as “Kath and Dave”—Armisen attempts to impress Simon with his knowledge of folk music, while also showing they are totally simpatico, but he fails miserably. A confused and irritated Simon tries to move on and save everyone more embarrassment, but Dave won’t let it die.

The resulting bit is awkward and hilarious. Watch the clip below!

In other Paul Simon news, the Paul Simon & Sting’s On Stage Together concerts scheduled for this Friday, March 13 at Krakow Arena and Saturday, March 14 at The O2 Arena in Prague have been postponed due to Sting catching the flu. Sting is resting at home with a high fever in New York City, but fans are told to retain their tickets until more information about the shows is available.

After being diagnosed with the flu and a high fever, under doctor’s orders, Sting has been forced to postpone these performances while he rests at home in New York City. Both artists regret disappointing their fans.
