A Sag Harbor man was landing a plane at East Hampton Airport Wednesday when the landing gear malfunctioned, causing the plane to leave the runway.
East Hampton Town police were called to the airport at 5 p.m. when a caller reported that a plane had skidded off the runway. Police said David Bulgin, 62, of Sag Harbor, was the sole occupant of the plane, which had landed on Runway 10-28 when the malfunction occurred.
The plane was damaged, though Bulgin was not injured.
Police said the FAA will investigate the incident.
