Winter Weather Advisory for Eastern Suffolk from 3 p.m.–2 a.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Eastern Suffolk County, taking effect at 3 p.m. and lasting through Wednesday at 2 a.m.
The forecast calls for snow, sleet and freezing rain. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected. There may also be a slight accumulation of ice.
Temperatures will be in the low 30s.
Snow will start in the late afternoon, then will mix with sleet and freezing rain in the evening before changing to freezing rain by midnight. Plain rain will occur overnight, according to the forecast.
Traveling will be difficult at times, the weather service warns.
There is also potentional for 6 inches of snowfall from Wednesday night into Thursday.
