Starbucks opened its new location in Southampton Village on Monday, May 18, on Hampton Road.
The coffeehouse chain applied last year to open a 16-seat café at 29 Hampton Road. The plan was met with controversy, though Starbucks eventually won approval and readied the space to open its doors prior to Memorial Day weekend.
In addition to coffee, the new Starbucks serves food to stay and to go.
Starbucks also has cafés in East Hampton, Bridgehampton and Hampton Bays. There has never been a location in Southampton Village before, but there was one at 20 County Road 39—presently a Dunkin’ Donuts/pizzeria—from 2005 through 2008.
