Montauk Chefs Join Dan's Harvest East End
Two of the top chefs in Montauk will be found on the North Fork for one night only, Saturday, August 22, at Dan’s Harvest East End at McCall Vineyard and Ranch in Cutchogue, hosted by Geoffrey Zakarian.
We spoke with Ron Duprat, the Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina chef and a competitor on Top Chef, and Jason Kallert, chef of Tillie’s at Gurney’s Montauk, by LDV Hospitality, about why they love East End summer dining.
One food or dish that everyone should try at least once in life:
Duprat: Montauk fluke Cuit á la Vapeur.
Kallert: True Texas BBQ
If you were to eat at your restaurant as a guest, what would you order?
Duprat: Very good question! I would start with the jumbo scallops; of course the tuna; and my 29-days aged beef.
Kallert: Mediterranean salad and the burger
What is your favorite local ingredient?
Duprat: The vegetables
Kallert: The fresh seafood
Food that defines summer on the East End:
Kallert: Oysters
Where do you find inspiration?
Duprat: My clientele and my loyal fans.
Kallert: From good people
What is your favorite aspect of being part of the culinary culture on the East End?
Duprat: The ambiance
Kallert: Getting to work with all of the locals and listening to all of their stories over the years
