For National Coffee Day, Sip the Best Coffee on the East End

Tuesday, September 29, is National Coffee Day, the perfect time to reflect on the Dan’s Best of the Best coffee winners.

Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe (11 Main St., Southampton; 631-283-6949 is the official U.S. distributor for century-old Swiss gourmet coffee company La Semeuse. Enjoy a variety of self-serve hot or iced coffee to enjoy while experiencing Southampton Village’s Main Street.

Hampton Coffee Co. (869 Montauk Hwy., Water Mill; 631-726-2633 roasts coffee for its cafés in Water Mill, Westhampton Beach and Southampton and for distribution in retail locations on the East End and farther afield. Dan’s Papers readers voted Hampton Coffee the gold best coffee on the South Fork.

Tate’s Bake Shop (43 North Sea Rd., Southampton; 631-283-9830 may be famous for its cookies, but regulars to the bakery in Southampton Village know that the self serve coffee bar offers excellent choices to satisfy any coffee aficionado’s taste. It garnered the Hamptons bronze award.

On the North Fork, Aldo’s Cafe (103-105 Front St., Greenport; 631-477-6300 took platinum for best coffee. Aldo Maiorana, who has lived all over the world but since 1978 has called the East End home, roasts Italian-style coffee. Have a cup at his café or pick up a bag of By Aldo coffee beans to take home and enjoy.

Love Lane Kitchen (240 Love Ln., Mattituck; 631-298-8989 was voted gold. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is always a great time to drop in Love Lave Kitchen for a cup o’ joe.

The Cheese Emporium & Cafe by Bruce & Son (208 Main St., Greenport; 631-477-0025 offers breakfast, lunch, cheese, artisanal provisions and the gold coffee on the North Fork. Sit at the lunch counter or a table to enjoy lauded coffee with a meal.

The North Fork’s bronze awardee is Blue Duck Bakery Cafe (56275 Route 25, Southold; 631-629-4123 which, in addition to sweet treats, has wonderful self-serve coffee.
