Inaugural Oktoberfest Pub Crawl Planned in Riverhead
The people who brought SantaCon and the March of the Leprechauns to Riverhead are adding a fall pub crawl to the lineup and this time the theme is Oktoberfest. Lederhosen is encouraged.
Sunday, October 18, between noon and 8 p.m. Riverhead bars, restaurants and breweries will offer special Oktoberfest deals to patrons who purchase a $10 bracelet. Bracelet proceeds will be donated to a local charity; the beneficiary is yet to be chosen.
Nicole Evers, the director of private events at Suffolk Theater, says the new pub crawl is being planned because of how successful both SantaCon and March of the Leprechauns were. Each event drew about 1,200 participants to Riverhead, and each rose about $12,000 for charities and nonprofits. Past beneficiaries included the East End Emerald Society, Maureen’s Haven and the New Beginning’s Brendan House.
