Shop 'til You Drop: Ushering in the Fall on the East End
It’s still warm on the East End, but it’s time to transition into our fall routines.
Now is a perfect time to ditch the gym and head outdoors. New Balance’s recently launched Vazee collection includes a range of stylish and affordable sneakers. A standout is the Rush (newbalance.com, $89.99), which is lightweight and responsive, making the heel-to-toe transition quick and easy (essential for injury prevention). The shoe feels fantastic, with no “breaking in” required, and has just the right amount of cushioning to work year-round out East. While the Rush is a running shoe, it can also work for light cross-training.
The biggest transition for the fall will likely be on the beauty front. COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation and Outlast Longwear Lipstick combine the latest technology, such as light-reflecting particles and moisturizing oils, to ensure a natural luminosity and beautiful color (with no dry lips) that lasts all day. The foundation is a light-reflective formula that works to provide long-wear moisture (light to medium coverage), while the Longwear Lipcolor is a long-lasting (up to eight hours) waterproof formula made with oils for hydration (CVS, 111 Main Street, Southampton).
If you’re more minimalist, go for quality mascara like Clinique’s new Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara (clinique.com, $17). It’s being hailed as the star of the brand’s fall launch lineup; it’s highly pigmented to deliver serious volume with just a few strokes, there’s no clumping and the formula won’t dry out your lashes. While black will always be the best seller, they’ve got a wearable shade range organized by eye color: Blue Eyes (Jumbo Jet or Two Ton Teal), Green Eyes (Portly Plum or Massive Midnight), Brown Eyes (Massive Midnight or Portly Plum) and Hazel Eyes (Two Ton Teal or Portly Plum).
For body, H2O+ has come out with their Spa Black Sea Collection, which is inspired by the renewing powers of the Black Sea. Each product is infused with a hydrating seagrass known to grow along the brackish coastline of the Black Sea, and Black Seaweed is added to boost moisture levels and nourish the skin. The products (h2oplus.com, $20-28) include Spa Black Sea Shower Cream, Spa Black Sea Body Scrub, Spa Black Sea Body Cream, and Spa Black Sea Konjac Body Sponge, all of which smell just as good as they feel and work well for both sexes (and as hostess gifts!).
When it comes to nails, you can’t “top” essie. Taking center stage this season is essie’s fall 2015 collection. The six vibrant shades include a shimmering rich espresso, an intense midnight indigo, a cinnamon plum, a burgundy, a red-orange, and a bronzy shade (CVS, 111 Main Street, Southampton, $8.50).
Cartier has a new fragrance with a perfect scent for fall. MUST de Cartier GOLD is the latest creation from the brand’s in-house perfumer, Mathilde Laurent (neimanmarcus.com, $150). The eau de parfum is a modern interpretation of the brand’s iconic first fragrance, MUST de Cartier, and is infused with sparkling floral notes including jasmine, osmanthus and galbanum. It’s light and feminine, but has a sexiness and crispness to it that makes it perfect for this time of year.
Also great for the season is a mask, which is key to prevent skin from behaving erratically as the weather changes. Lock-in skin’s moisture and preserve that coveted radiant, healthy glow with the newest addition to L’Occitane’s anti-aging collection, the Divine Cream Mask (loccitane.com, $145).
