New York State and East Hampton Town are joining forces to build a new parking field in Montauk to address a parking shortage in the popular summer destination and improve pedestrian safety.

The municipal parking field will be located near the South Edison Street and South Euclid Avenue intersection in downtown Montauk, across the street from an existing municipal parking field. The new field is estimated to add approximately 30 new parking spaces.

The commercially zoned parcel was purchased by the Town of East Hampton. To construct the parking lot and infrastructure, New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele secured $100,000 and New York State Senator Ken LaValle secure $250,000 in state capital funding.
