In 2015, Dan’s Best of the Best debuted a new category for the South Fork: Best Taco. Now the votes have been tallied and Dan’s Papers can reveal the platinum, gold, silver and bronze honorees in this competitive group.
The top vote-getter is La Superica (1 Main Street, Sag Harbor; 631-725-3388) a Sag Harbor Village staple that is known for its margaritas and hopping bar as well as its Latin cuisine—the restaurant took bronze in the Best Mexican category. This is the place Dan’s Papers readers say is the best spot to get tacos in the Hamptons.
La Fondita (74 Montauk Highway, Amagansett; 631-267-8800, lafondita.net) takes gold for its tacos on a soft corn tortilla with the diners choice of fillings and topped with cilantro and onions. For the meat, choose from shredded beef, chicken, roasted pork and chorizo. Vegetarian tacos with refried beans, rice and queso fresco are also available.
La Pradera (174 Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays; 631-594-5550, lapraderarestaurant.com) is a new addition to the Hampton Bays restaurant scene, serving Mexican and Latin cuisine. The restaurant grabs the Dan’s Best of the Best silver award for Best Taco.
Sabrosa Mexican Grill (1152 Montauk Highway, Water Mill; 631-726-6565, sabrosamexicangrill.com) is the bronze winner for Best Taco. Sabrosa offers soft corn, crispy corn, soft flour and whole wheat tortillas with a wide variety of fillings, such as barbacoa, carnitas, chicken, steak and tofu.
