Library Lecture January 27 on Friends Who Transformed Southampton

Southampton residents Pyrrhus Concer and Captain George White, who made 12 voyages to the Far East between 1875 and 1898 in search of whales, will be the subject of a lecture at the Rogers Memorial Library on Wednesday, January 27.
“Pyrrhus Concer & Captain George White: Two Friends Who Transformed Southampton” will be presented in conjunction with the Southampton Historical Museum. Revealed in ships’ logs and diaries are the rewards and perils of sea voyage, and the unlikely friendship forged between two men.
