Man Dies in Water Mill Crash Between SUV and Suffolk Bus
Authorities are citing icy roads as the cause of a fatal motor vehicle accident in Water Mill Friday morning that claimed the life of Cesar Marin, a 27-year-old East Hampton man.
Southampton Town police reported that Marin was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on Montauk Highway at 6:50 a.m. when he lost control and veered into the eastbound lane, striking a Suffolk County transit bus head-on. Marin was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office. The bus driver, Andrzej Jaglowski, 50, of Riverhead, was transported by Bridgehampton Ambulance to Southampton Hospital, where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.
The New York State Department of Transportation Motor Safety Unit responded for a safety check of the bus. The Trailblazer was impounded to police HQ for a safety check and further investigation. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
Ten minutes before this accident, another one-car accident occurred at the same location where a driver lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway. No injuries occurred.
