Shotgun Drive-By Shooting Injures Three in Southampton
Three males of unidentified age were injured in a drive-by shooting in the area of Hillcrest Avenue in Southampton Village a few minutes before 6 p.m. on Monday, January 25.
A statement from Southampton Village Police notes that they received multiple calls of shots being fired at around 5:56 p.m after an unknown assailant discharged several shotgun blasts from a vehicle into a crowd of people who were standing in the roadway. Those injured in the shooting were transported by private vehicles to the Southampton Hospital, where one of the victims remains in the Intensive Care Unit, another is still recovering from his injuries and the third was released.
Members of the New York State Police and their Reconstruction Team, as well as members from the Southampton Town Police Department are assisting in an ongoing investigation, but so far, the attacker(s) have not been apprehended or identified, at least publicly.
