East Hampton artist Mica Marder is known for his art brut paintings and assemblage works of East End birds and marine life. On his @mpelagica Instagram account, the artist shares his work and offers a glimpse into his life, which is by any standards well lived.
When he’s not creating fabulous pieces of art, Marder spends much of his time on, and beneath, the sea spearfishing, scuba diving, boating and enjoying life to the fullest. And it’s a pleasure to vicariously follow the artist on his adventures, whether he’s swimming with whale sharks, pickling herring, planting trees, enjoying time with his family or digging up antique bottles from a long ago buried dump.
Below we share just a handful of images from Marder’s feed. Follow him at @mpelagica.
