Peter Beard Attacked by Elephant
Montauk artist Peter Beard, who is currently showing his works in Peter Beard: Last Word from Paradise at Guild Hall, is a staunch advocate for preservation and conservation in Africa, especially of the struggling elephant population. He has made it part of his life’s mission, but animals don’t always understand.
In this video from 1996, an excerpt from Palm Pictures release of Peter Beard, the artist is attacked by an elephant. He could have very easily been killed, but instead Beard survived and came back with one more story added to his legendary life.
Peter Beard: Last Word from Paradise is on view through July 31 at Guild Hall at 158 Main Street in East Hampton. You can read our review of the show in the July 1 issue of Dan’s Papers.
