Alex Guarnaschelli Performs Comedy at Guild Hall
If you saw Alex Guarnaschelli at this year’s Dan’s GrillHampton and Dan’s Taste of Two Forks, you know how funny the Iron Chef can be. Well, Guild Hall agrees. Guarnaschelli, along with fellow comedians Yamaneika Saunders, Karen Bergreen and Vince August will perform at the John Drew Theater on Friday night, August 5, as part of Caroline’s on Broadway’s Caroline’s @ The Beach series.
Carolines on Broadway is New York City’s premier standup comedy nightclub, and it stays open 7 nights per week, 365 days a year. Now the legendary club—known for showing standup icons such as Dave Chappelle, Janeane Garofalo, Joel McHale, Tracy Morgan and Kathy Griffin—is expanding its already full schedule with shows on the road.
A Bridgehampton resident, Guarnaschelli is a chef, author, television personality and owner of the popular NYC restaurant Butter. The star of Chopped and Alex’s Day Off on Food Network managed to deliver some laughs at this summer’s Dan’s Taste of Two Forks—telling guests she actually wore a bra to the event—so it will be fun to see how she’ll perform in a pure comedy atmosphere. But Guarnaschelli won’t be the only talent cracking jokes on Friday.
Yamaneika Saunders has been building up her dynamic stage presence at clubs across the country for more than a decade. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, she’s been a fixture in both the New York and LA comedy scene, combining high energy improv skills with her vulnerable perspective on life. Saunders was a semi-finalist on Last Comic Standing, one of the stars of Funny Girls on Oxygen and a panelist on The Meredith Vieira Show.
A Harvard graduate with a law degree from University of Minnesota, Karen Bergreen followed the natural career path of someone with her credentials and became…a comedian! She regularly appears on Comedy Central, and was a panelist on Can You Tell on The Oxygen Network. Bergreen has performed on VH1, Court TV and USA networks, ABC’s The View, on Nick Moms, Stand-Up in Stillettos and LIVE at Gotham and The Jim Gaffigan Show, and she recently filmed a pilot for CBS.
Vince August is a weekly performer at Carolines on Broadway, he was a warmup comic on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and series regular on ABC’s What Would You Do? His film, Vinsanity, won Best Picture at the New York International Film and Comedy Festival. He was forced to give up a career as a Municipal Court Judge in order to follow his comedy dreams.
