Calvary Baptist Church in East Hampton held its annual celebration of the life of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday with hymns, prayers, and sermons. Arthurine Dunn, an English teacher at East Hampton High School, gave the keynote address. The church choir, as well as the HeavenSents, a male Gospel group, were among the performers. King, who was born 90 years ago, was the most visible symbol of the civil rights movement, which he led with a focus on nonviolence and civic activism.
