Man Charged In Flanders Robbery

Southampton Town police arrested a Flanders man on a third-degree robbery charge, classifying it as a crime of violence.

According to the police, Rony Geovanny Bonilla-Morales, 27, put his victim, also a Flanders resident, in a headlock June 1, then ran off with the victim’s knapsack, which contained cash and a tablet computer. The two men knew each other, police said. The robbery occurred on Maple Avenue in Flanders.

The victim called police on his cell phone, then ran after Bonilla-Morales. Detectives, aided by a New York State police K-9 unit, tracked Bonilla-Morales down at his residence, on the same street the robbery occurred.

He was placed under arrest and held overnight for arraignment, which was scheduled to be done via teleconference Tuesday morning.
